"Foggy Night" 8 x 8  oil by Jacki Newell

This little one made it's way tonight to the MAC office for the 12x12 show, thanks to studio mate Emily Jeffords, who kindly dropped it off for me as I continue to stay home and try to heal this ankle by staying off of it. If you are wondering how a 8x8 sized painting is in a 12x12 show, the image itself is 8 3/8 x 8 3/8 but the outside dimensions of the frame is 12x12. Stop in to see the exhibit on 16 Augusta St, Greenville, SC during the hours of Open Studio November 6-8.

Thanks for visiting my blog.

Sold!! Door#4

"Southern Sunshine" 8x8 oil  Sold
I recieved  word last night that  a fourth piece from the Charleston Door series sold at Reinert Fine Art Gallery in Charleston! This is great news, but it's hard to part with this one, because the lovely little lady in the painting is my beautiful grandaughter, Macy. There are only two of my door paintings left at the gallery so I need to get busy on some more. I love painting them almost as much as I love wandering around Charleston photographing the vast array of beautiful doors (and eating lunch while there).
Unfortunately, struggling with ankle pain  is keeping me from getting to the studio to work on these paintings. I've got an appointment with a sports medicine dr today, hopefully they will have some idea of what I can do to get back to walking and living an active life. Open Studios is quickly coming up and I'm hoping I can at least get it cleaned up for that weekend!! I've got 2 1/2 weeks to get back on my feet before then. If you live in the upstate, come by the White Whale Studios on the weekend of Nov. 6-8 and visit!!

Blogging again.

Wow! It's been a while. I think I said that last time. Where do I start? I think I'll just start with today. I'm sitting here at home with a sore, swollen ankle. Not sure exactly how I did it but it must have been the other day when I decided to sprint as fast as I can for about a block. Not a good idea I guess. It felt great while doing it, but later my ankle started hurting. I probably should have stayed off of it the next day, and I did nix my daily 4 mile walk but still walked all day doing my normal activities and stood all afternoon whilst painting. Today, I'm sitting here, with ice. It's so gorgeous out. I can't stand it, but at least my computer is next to an open window.

On a different subject, I got a text from Jason at the Reinert Fine Art Gallery in Charleston, SC, letting me know that they sold another of my Charleston door pieces. I love to get texts like that! So far, since being at the gallery in early summer, I have sold 3 door paintings and a small Folly Beach plein air piece. It makes me feel good to know that I'm not just taking up space at the gallery! They want me to do more, and I am happy to comply!!

Here are the three doors that have sold so far.
